Smith’s daz­zling abstract paint­ings and draw­ings are metic­u­lous pat­terns inside other pat­terns, cir­cles embed­ded in a grid like for­mat. Noth­ing in these paint­ings seem ran­dom, but intri­cately calculated.

For me, Smith’s aes­thetic is sheer sen­sory; pure, vibrant, visual ecstasy. Totally geometric-lite-brite-3d-puzzle-neon-freak– out–pixel-squiggly-zig-zag-stuck-in-a-worm hole-rainbow-cave– iron-on-pearl-beads-candy-necklace-vortex-of-wiggly-cellular-molecules-electrically-wiggling-in-rows-beneath-a-gaseous-swampy-surface.
