About two years ago I was at a music show at the now defunt Chicago venue Av-aerie. I was there taking photos of the show for a friend and I met this totally rad girl named Esther Ramirez. I spent the evening hangin’ out with Esther and her friends. At the end of the night she handed me a sweet little note, part of which said Dear Dee lets be friends… and hang out with girls our own age! Included was her phone number and email. And a friendship began.
Essimar as she is known, has found a way to combine her love of paper, color and design into beautiful hand made cards and paper art. Painstakingly cut out, collaged, and sometimes screen printed, her innate eye for color is keen and unique.
