Greetings from a formerly snow covered land

The snow is melting here in Chicago and turning into a chilly spring rain. The birds are singing and signs of May flowers are abreast. As you may have noticed it’s been a while since my last post. Though idle on the internet, I have been quite the opposite in real life. I’m working on plans and logisitcs for 3 upcoming shows this summer in Chicago. I am happy to announce that Simple Gallery is presenting a solo exhinition of Keith B. Evans photographs in late summer. Details on this have yet to be announced though I promise to post as soon as they are thoroughly decided upon.

The second show also in late summer is for the Logan Square art walk taking place in the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago sponsored by the Logan Square Preservation Board. This project is headed by David Keel, I am his self proclaimed partner in crime. As the neighborhood is striving to establish an arts district, David and I are putting together an exhibition to show off some of Chicago’s emerging finest and trying to get the rights to house the show in a recently renovated historical building on Milwaukee Avenue. I will also disclose more on this at a later date. I can say, however, that I am thrilled by the neighborhood’s desire to sponsor the arts and make the Milwaukee Avenue a bona fide arts district.

Lastly but not leastly, June 6th David Keel and I will be showing our new paintings in a two person solo exhinition. I will have a special post for describing the who’s, where’s, what’s and when’s of each of the afore mentioned as the time gets closer. I’m delighted to be apart of all three events and even more so for the contributions Simple Gallery can make to our arts community here in Chicago.

Ah yes, I almost forgot two very important events. Sunday May 24th Simple Gallery will be having it’s 2nd fundraising event at Whistler in Logan Square. Free musical performances by The Notes and Scratches, A Tundra/Locks as well as other entertainments for the eyes. This is an all day event, so come and drink all you can because the gallery gets to take some bar money home!
Additionally the Plagiarists are having a fundraiser art exhibition, Art in the time of Plagiarism at Country Club in Wicker Park on Friday April 24th. I will be showing a new painting as well as work by Tony Fitzpatrick, Mat Daly, Ashley Alexander, Emily Rapport and many, more. Come by, have some fun, see some great work, support our local arts community and maybe have a drink or two while your there.
